Experienced Leader to Guide Community-Driven K-8 Catholic School
Mission Dolores AcademyMission Dolores Academy (MDA), an independent, K-8. Catholic school in San Francisco, CA, announces the hiring of Lars Lund as its next head of school. Mr Lund brings decades of school leadership experience, including 36 years at Junipero Serra High School. Mission Dolores Academy resulted from the merging of two San Francisco Catholic schools: the Megan Furth Catholic Academy (MFCA) and Mission Dolores School (MDS). The school's history stretches back to 1852, making it the longest-standing Catholic school in San Francisco. Almost all students at MDA are students of color.
Meet the new leader
Lars has worked tirelessly his entire career as a leader at mission-driven institutions. From 2008-2019, he was the president at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. At Serra he was also a principal, teacher, department chair, and coach. Lars was most recently the interim president at Justin-Siena High School in Napa. He holds an MA in Religious Education from the University of San Francisco.
