Mission Matters: Beyond Job Titles in Your Job Search
One of the things employers seek as they evaluate candidates is mission-alignment. As an applicant, searching for the right title is only part of your work when identifying new opportunities to explore. The next step is to do a little research to see whether an organization is a right fit for you. Sometimes “fit” has a negative connotation in the world of hiring, but in this case it's absolutely critical that an organization’s mission, values, vision, and culture resonate with you. Going all-in with an organization that doesn't align with your own beliefs and philosophy will almost always lead to a short stint on the resumé. The goal when job searching should be to find not only a role that matches your skill set, but also a workplace that will keep you excited even when the going gets tough in your new role.
