Teacher Training Institute Hires Accomplished Educator As Its Next Executive Director

The Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI), based in Oakland, CA announces the hiring of Ashlee Gutierrez as its next execuive director, to take over leadership of BATTI on July 1, 2021. Ms. Gutierrez will assume responsibility following the retirement of Bob Houghteling, who is retiring after nearly twenty years of service as BATTI's founding head.
The executive director reports to the board of directors.
Meet the new leader
Ashlee Gutierrez brings over ten years of experience in public and charter schools as a teacher, assistant principal, and founding school leader. She holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Education from BATTI’s university partner, Holy Names University.
Ashlee maintains a passionate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with the unique experience as the founding DEI coordinator at San Ramon Valley Unified School District, and she has extensive experience in teacher professional development and curriculum design. Ashlee has the heart and mind of a teacher. In Ashlee’s words, “Education is the best way to change our society.”
