Developing Thoughtful Questions to Ask in Your Interview
For most candidates, the opportunity to ask a question provides a chance to get insight into the situation. But that is rarely the right strategy. A pivotal moment occurs when the tables are turned and candidates can ask a couple of questions. First, savvy applicants design questions to show their high interest in a position. Second, they want to show their ability to ask thought-provoking, insightful, and guiding questions — as executives often are called on to do. In sum, treat your questions as a chance to continue showing both your eagerness and leadership skills, and not just as a rote fact-finding moment. This is often a missed opportunity for candidates but most definitely a moment to remember for those on the other side of the table.
